Dear Ambassador Jawad:
I have enclosed a sample of signed petitions we have received in support of an effort by Afghanistan to have Michael Isikoff extradited to face justice in your country. He is the Newsweek staffer who wrote the “Koran in the toilet" story that sparked anti-American global riots and the deaths of 17 people in your country. Newsweek did enormous damage to the cause of democracy in the Middle East.
Our petitions say:
Dear President Karzai and the Afghan People,
Thank you for working with our President, George W..Bush, to fight Al
Qaeda terrorists.
Michael Isikoff of Newsweek wrote a story giving the terrorists a public
relations bonanza, setting off anti-American riots throughout the Arab world,
and causing the deaths of 17 people in Afghanistan.
I, the undersigned American citizen, wholeheartedly support any and all
of your efforts to extradite Michael Isikoff to Afghanistan to face justice.
Mr. Ambassador, we strongly support Afghanistan’s fight for freedom and justice.
