NEWS FLASH!!! KING KOFI DEMANDS FLUSH TOILETS IN BRIEF VISIT TO REFUGEE CAMP.

Faced with no response to our letters to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and acting U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. James Cunningham, America's Survival has decided to release the essential contents of a message reportedly sent in protest of a recent one-hour Annan "tour" of an Afghan refugee camp. One veteran U.N. official disgusted by corruption in the world body said it demonstrates the callous indifference of the U.N. and Annan personally to human suffering.

The information concerns an Annan visit to the New Shamshatoo refugee camp just outside of Peshawar, Pakistan, where officials were instructed to build him a western-style latrine that flushed. For two days, we are told, the camp staff built a latrine with two western-style flush toilets enclosed in a building. In addition, Annan or his staff required camp personnel to build 5 helicopter pads on an adjacent field so he could be helicoptered in, not driven in. In the end, he used the helicopter pad, but didn't use the western style latrine. The building housing the two western-style toilets was torn down, but the toilets remain as monuments to his visit. Photographs are said to exist of them.

In a letter to Annan with a copy to Cunningham, Cliff Kincaid of America's Survival conveyed this information and asked for comment. No response in either case was forthcoming. So we are now providing the information so other journalists may follow up on it and demand answers. That is, if journalists want to question "King Kofi."
