Dear Friend of America's Survival,
As the COP25 "Climate Summit" begins in Madrid, the Socialist International has called on the "major carbon polluters," i.e. the United States, to "secure the urgent emissions cuts that need to occur in the next couple of years in order to have a chance to limit global warming to 1.5°C." The group adds, "To this end, the Socialist International strongly advocates action to tackle subsidies for fossil fuels, implement taxes on carbon, and end new coal power beyond 2020." Meanwhile, the corporate-supported Axios media group proclaims: "Instead of renewable energy, the world needs to focus far more on cutting its use of oil, natural gas and coal to really fight climate change..." This devastation of the U.S. economy is laid out by Amy Harder in her "Harder Line" column. There is absolutely no evidence that CO2 is a pollutant or that socialist control of the means of production will somehow save the planet. Under Trump, the U.S. has become the largest producer of new fossil fuels. This is a great achievement. The "Popular Resistance" Marxist organization complains that "A staggering 61% of the world’s new oil and gas production over the next decade is set to come from one country alone: the United States." This Marxist group and others are threatening protests: "There have already been mass protests around the world leading up to the COP meetings," they say. "In expectation of more protests at the meetings in Spain, more than 5,000 police have been called out. " Myron Ebell, Director, Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, notes: "The global warming bandwagon is not about reducing emissions. It’s about redistributing wealth, concentrating political power, gaining position and prestige, reducing living standards, and ultimately controlling population." For America's Survival Cliff Kincaid
