If Destruction Be Our Lot
Why President Trump and the Congress Must Act Decisively Against the Premeditated Threats to Our Republican Form of Government
——————————————————————————————————--
The American Republic stands at a strategic inflection point. What confronts us is not a series of disconnected crises, but a coherent, multi-theater campaign of pressure, deception, and attrition directed against the constitutional order itself. Foreign adversaries—chief among them the Chinese Communist Party, the Russian Federation, and the Iranian regime—are advancing their positions with methodical deliberation. Simultaneously, domestic forces openly hostile to the republican form of government continue to operate with insufficient restraint. The Constitution’s guarantee in Article IV, Section 4 is not ornamental. It is a command. President Trump and the Congress must treat these developments with the gravity they demand.
The Chinese Communist Party’s South China Sea Fortress Strategy
Commercial satellite imagery has confirmed what strategic observers long anticipated: the Chinese Communist Party is constructing a major new military complex on Antelope Reef in the Paracel Islands. Approximately 1,490 acres of reclaimed land now host a deep-water harbor, warship-capable piers, dual runways, barracks, and a helipad. An early-warning radar installation is advancing on nearby Yagong Reef. This is the first large-scale reef expansion since 2017 and will rank among the largest artificial military features in the entire South China Sea.
The operational purpose is transparent. Antelope Reef, once fully militarized, will serve as a forward operating base capable of hosting fighters, surface-to-air and anti-ship missiles, electronic warfare systems, and logistics support within striking distance of Vietnam’s coast and the northern approaches to the vital sea lanes. Combined with existing facilities on Woody Island and the Spratly bases at Mischief, Subi, and Fiery Cross, Beijing is systematically converting the South China Sea into a denial zone. An estimated five trillion dollars in annual trade transit these waters. Control of that artery is control of leverage over the global economy.
This expansion is not defensive. It is the physical manifestation of a long-term anti-access/area-denial strategy designed to raise the cost of American intervention in any Taiwan contingency to prohibitive levels. Concurrent Chinese research into artificial-intelligence-enhanced hypersonic glide vehicles further signals the intent to defeat emerging U.S. missile defenses, including components of the Golden Dome architecture. The People’s Liberation Army understands that time favors the side that consolidates geographic advantage while the adversary debates.
Russian Escalation: Logistics Warfare, Extended-Range Missiles, Nuclear Signaling, and Direct Threats to Great Britain and the Eastern Flank
Russia has moved beyond attritional grinding in Ukraine into systematic destruction of dual-use civilian logistics. A Russian drone strike on an ammunition depot in the village of Myla, west of Kyiv, triggered prolonged secondary detonations that killed at least thirty-seven civilians, damaged dozens of residential structures, and forced mass evacuations. Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi has stated that approximately ninety percent of the food-logistics infrastructure serving major retail chains has been destroyed. Empty shelves in the capital are no longer theoretical.
At the same time, Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence has confirmed the first combat employment of an upgraded ballistic missile, the 9M723-2, provisionally designated Iskander-1000 or associated with the Bora-M system. The principal modification is a larger solid-fuel motor requiring an enlarged launch tube, extending effective range to roughly 550 kilometers—approximately forty percent beyond the earlier variant. While Russian sources have floated the possibility of a full 1,000-kilometer capability for future iterations, the fielded system already expands the threat arc and complicates Ukrainian and NATO air-defense planning.
Deployment of such systems from the heavily militarized enclave of Kaliningrad would place substantial portions of Central and Western Europe, including critical NATO infrastructure, within range. This is not theoretical posturing. The Eastern Flank—Poland, the Baltic states, Romania, and the broader Black Sea region—faces continuous pressure through hybrid operations, airspace violations, cyber attacks, and the forward positioning of dual-capable systems. Russia’s demonstrated willingness to target logistics and dual-use infrastructure in Ukraine provides a clear template for what similar campaigns against NATO’s eastern members could entail.
The threat extends directly to Great Britain. When asked about the possibility of strikes on the United Kingdom, President Vladimir Putin replied that the matter was “a secret, a military secret.” Such language is not accidental. It constitutes calibrated strategic ambiguity designed to raise the political and psychological cost of British support for Ukraine and broader NATO solidarity. Combined with reports of Russian technical assistance to Iran on ramjet-powered supersonic cruise missiles (the C430L program), the pattern indicates a deliberate effort to proliferate advanced strike capabilities that can hold high-value Western assets at risk across multiple theaters.
Most alarming is the reported detection of an unidentified submarine—assessed by some sources as Russian—approximately seventy-five miles off the New Jersey–New York coastline. The subsequent scramble of five U.S. Navy E-6B Mercury aircraft, the airborne nuclear command-and-control platforms known colloquially as “doomsday planes,” constitutes an unmistakable elevation of strategic readiness. These aircraft exist to ensure continuity of nuclear command, control, and communications with ballistic-missile submarines and land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles if terrestrial infrastructure is degraded or destroyed. Their simultaneous airborne presence is not routine training. It is a response posture that reflects the seriousness with which American command authorities view the current correlation of forces.
Taken together, the logistics campaign in Ukraine, the fielding of extended-range ballistic missiles, the Kaliningrad-based threat to the Eastern Flank, the deliberate ambiguity regarding strikes on the United Kingdom, and the nuclear-signaling activity near the American homeland form a coherent strategy of coercive escalation. Russia seeks to fracture NATO cohesion by demonstrating that support for Ukraine carries escalating costs and that the Alliance’s eastern and western extremities are not beyond reach.
The Iranian Vector and the Bond Market Warning
Renewed U.S.–Iran kinetic exchanges around the Strait of Hormuz have driven energy prices higher and reignited global inflation concerns. Ten-year Treasury yields briefly reached 4.8 percent; Japanese ten-year yields crossed 3 percent for the first time since 1996; British gilts hit levels last seen in the Global Financial Crisis. These movements reflect more than ordinary market adjustment. They register investor recognition that persistent deficits, expanding sovereign debt, and geopolitical supply shocks are compounding. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has downplayed the significance; markets have not.
An agreement with the Iranian regime, as President Trump correctly observed, is not worth the paper on which it is written. Tehran’s role as a force-multiplier for both Russian and Chinese strategic objectives—through proxy warfare, energy disruption, and now potential advanced cruise-missile technology—renders any temporary diplomatic arrangement inherently unstable.
Domestic Subversion and the Unenforced Law
The external campaign is facilitated by internal vulnerability. Open advocacy of systems antithetical to the constitutional republic continues. Favorable views of communism among tens of millions of Americans, the activity of organized revolutionary groups, and the long historical pattern of ideological infiltration into intelligence and security institutions cannot be dismissed as fringe phenomena. Federal statutes—including 5 U.S.C. § 7311 and the Communist Control Act—remain on the books precisely because earlier generations recognized the danger of organized efforts to overthrow the constitutional form of government. Selective non-enforcement has consequences.
The pending visit of Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping and the absence of vigorous public discussion of the scale of Chinese election-interference efforts further illustrate a deficit of strategic seriousness. Economic resilience, industrial reconstitution, and ideological clarity are not optional luxuries; they are prerequisites of national survival.
The Constitutional and Strategic Imperative
The republican form of government is not self-sustaining under conditions of sustained external pressure and internal demoralization. Congress holds the power of the purse, the authority to raise and support armies and navies, and the duty to provide for the common defense. The President, as Commander in Chief, bears primary responsibility for the coherent application of national power. Half-measures, delayed industrial mobilization, and rhetorical reassurance without corresponding force structure will not alter the correlation of forces.
Required actions include:
  • Accelerated reconstitution of munitions stockpiles, shipbuilding capacity, and air-defense interceptor production.
  • Explicit linkage of economic statecraft to Chinese military expansion and Russian logistics warfare.
  • Full enforcement of existing statutes against organized advocacy of the overthrow of the constitutional government.
  • Transparent public communication of the strategic environment so that the American people understand the stakes.
  • Campaigning on Americanism and key develop of American national conservative free market economic contract outline.
  • Personal and community-level preparation for disruption of critical infrastructure, as logistics networks and energy systems have already proven vulnerable.
  • Reinforced forward presence and rapid reinforcement capabilities along NATO’s Eastern Flank, coupled with unambiguous signaling that threats to the United Kingdom or other Alliance members will be met with decisive collective response.
History records that republics perish more often from internal corrosion and delayed recognition of external danger than from sudden military catastrophe. The present combination of Chinese geographic consolidation, Russian escalation across the Eastern Flank and against Great Britain, Iranian disruption, fiscal vulnerability, and domestic ideological challenge constitutes a premeditated assault on the American constitutional order. If destruction is to be our lot, let it not be the result of willful blindness or institutional inertia. The instruments of self-preservation remain in our hands. They must be employed with clarity, urgency, and unwavering fidelity to the republican principle.

“If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
— Abraham Lincoln, Lyceum Address, January 27, 1838
