Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., is calling on President Donald Trump to pardon National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Gaetz tweeted support for the idea Thursday and made it the lead segment of his podcast "Hot Takes with Matt Gaetz" the same day.

"As of today, the case has never been stronger, that Edward Snowden deserves a pardon from President Trump," Gaetz said on the podcast. "I would support a pardon for Edward Snowden."
