Dear Friend of America's Survival, This quote from a column by Fiamma Nirenstein got my attention: "Iran isn’t a democracy, and is guided by a messianic vision of a final clash between Gog and Magog for the triumph of the Mahdi, the Shi’ite messiah." I am not a prophet or Bible scholar. But some Christians believe the Biblical references to Gog and Magog refer to a Russian invasion of Israel. The End Times Ministry group declares that Ezekiel 38-39 is "a prophecy is given about a war called the Battle of Gog and Magog. During this battle, many nations of the world will invade the nation of Israel. In verses 2-6, several of the nations that will participate in the invasion are specifically named. One of the invaders is called the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. Webster’s Third International Dictionary defines Meshech as the word for Moschi from which comes the word Moscow. Of course, Moscow is the capital of Russia." My book, Back from the Dead, notes:
Note that Khamenei is “the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution” and the designated successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Smith Hempstone, a journalist who became United States ambassador to Kenya, wrote about this in a June 11, 1989 column. He had then predicted that Iran under Khamenei would “look to the Soviet Union” for an opening to the outside world. He wrote that Khamenei was not only a graduate of Patrice Lumumba University, but maintained “close ties to the Palestine Liberation Organization and has a record of supporting Iranian cooperation with the Soviet bloc and radical Third World states against the West.” For America's Survival, Cliff Kincaid
