The Foreign Policy Elephant in the Debate Hall
By J.C. Hawkins - October 23, 2020 From the Forgotten Street The final presidential debate between President Trump and Joe Biden originally was intended to focus on foreign policy. At the time the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) made that decision it didn’t anticipate the historic achievement President Trump would get in bringing Israel and Arab nations together in mid-August to sign the Abraham Accords. Knowing the debate would provide a chance for the President to expound on his groundbreaking foreign policy initiatives, the decision was made to let Moderator Kristen Welker of NBC News determine the final set of debate topics. She unilaterally decided to turn it into a social justice seminar and a harangue about the China Virus, topics that would favor Joe Biden. The huge question left hanging out there was what she should have asked Biden: “if you are elected president, will you honor the agreement in the Abraham Accords and try to bring other Arab nations in?” She avoided that so she could spend time asking about the supposed concerns of black families. What she failed to comprehend is that Middle East peace is a major benefit for all Americans, including black families whose sons and daughters have died or been maimed needlessly in neocon wars to protect Middle East oil. The trillions spent on that folly are funds that could have created countless jobs, rebuilt neglected urban neighborhoods, and provided real school choice to give every American child a decent education. Given the disruption experienced in the first presidential debate, the CPD decided on new rules that would allow the candidates to speak uninterrupted for two minutes each on a topic. Nonetheless, Welker kept cutting in to shut down President Trump in his other responses dramatically more than she did Biden. But the President outfoxed both of them by bringing the Hunter Biden corruption scandal into the discussion. It put Joe Biden in a real box. He never outright denied the facts presented. He simply went to the tired Democrat playbook and tried to paint it as Russian disinformation. Where he inflicted potentially fatal damage to his campaign is when he blatantly lied about not wanting to ban fracking. Yet, he foolishly admitted he wants to eliminate the American oil and natural gas industry. This boneheaded attempt to argue in support of the Democrats’ Green New Deal gives the Trump campaign an opening to deliver the final knockout punch. President Trump must ask the people at his rallies this simple question: “Who stands to benefit the most if the United States transitions away from oil and natural gas as our primary energy source?” Answer: Vladimir Putin and Russia, which will then become the dominant energy power in the world. The folks on The Forgotten Street, Main Street USA, will in no way support that madness. The many millions employed in the oil and gas energy industry will make their views known on November 3. So, in fact, who’s really colluding with Russia? The Democrat communists and globalists pushing the Green New Deal at the behest of The Deep State. President Trump’s first term foreign policy accomplishments are truly historic. His America First doctrine has led our country to energy independence. It’s put the proper share of the burden for the military defense of Europe back on our alleged allies in NATO. He’s bringing our troops home from misguided nation building experiments in Afghanistan and the Middle East. The Abraham Accords offer the potential for a lasting peace that will unite Israel and its Arab neighbors in an effort to counter Iranian and Russian aggression. Today President Trump announced that Sudan would be joining the Accords. After decades of tension on the Korean Peninsula, President Trump has achieved a daring opening with North Korea that reduces the likelihood of an outbreak of hostilities there. It’s easy to understand why the CPD wanted to work with the Biden campaign to steer the debate discussion away from foreign policy. The Deep State stooges on the CPD and the Elite Traitor Media (ETM) are doing all they can to preserve the D.C. status quo and keep Americans divided. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the perfect candidates to control. They can be counted on to advance the Deep State globalist socialist agenda. Thanks to his skillful insertion of the Hunter Biden scandal into the discussion, and drawing the contrast between his role as the Outsider and Biden’s as just another Oily Politician, President Trump has given American voters a clear-cut choice for November 3. The most devastating remark was President Trump painting Biden as “all talk and no action.” Joe Biden offers voters the same old crap. He talks about plans and commissions that will help him avoid the hard choices president are supposed to make. The Biden and Welker tag team tried to make an issue of the handling of the China Virus, but President Trump was able to show he is in charge of the effort and progress is being made, despite the outright lies of the ETM. It was totally obvious as the evening wore on that Joe Biden was starting to wear out. As the debate wound down, he was starting to lose his train of thought and began to stutter. The most telling moment was when he looked down at his watch, as George H.W. Bush did in 1992 in his losing effort with Bill Clinton and Ross Perot. So it’s back to the basement for Joe while President Trump continues his barnstorming rallies across America. Folks, this election is all but over.
