Dear Friend of America’s Survival, China-supplied fentanyl is killing more people than “gun violence.” Researchers use the phrase “Deaths of despair” to refer to what is happening in the “heroin beltway” of America. In 2017, as noted by the New York Times, more than 1,000 Americans died from synthetic opioid overdoses (primarily illegal fentanyl from China) every two weeks, topping 28,000 for the year. CNN noted: Deaths from the synthetic opioid fentanyl skyrocketed more than 1000% from 2011 to 2016. Whites are 78 percent of the opioid overdose deaths. The Washington Post admitted that the Obama administration failed to declare a public health emergency, against the pleas of national health experts. “In May 2016, a group of national health experts issued an urgent plea in a private letter to high-level officials in the Obama administration,” wrote reporters Scott Higham, Sari Horwitz and Katie Zezima. “Thousands of people were dying from overdoses of fentanyl — the deadliest drug to ever hit U.S. streets — and the administration needed to take immediate action. The epidemic had been escalating for three years. The 11 experts pressed the officials to declare fentanyl a national ‘public health emergency’ that would put a laser-like focus on combating the emerging epidemic and warn the country about the threat, according to a copy of the letter.” The administration considered the request but did not act on it. Figures show that drug overdose deaths rose from 16,849 in 1999 to 70,237 in 2017. In Apil 2019, the Trump White House noted headlines such as“China Bans All Types of Fentanyl, Cutting Supply of Deadly Drug to the United States and Fulfilling a Pledge to President Trump.” “China Announces New Crackdown on Fentanyl.” Now Trump admits that China lied and Americans died.
