Dear Friend of America's Survival,
This article, GOP Super PAC Says Marijuana Bill Could Help Republican Senator Keep At-Risk Seat, indicates that RINO Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado is counting on the Republican Senate passing his pro-marijuana bill to help his re-election effort in 2020. If true, the GOP is about the same as the Democratic Party when it comes to pandering to stoners and potheads. Of course, politicians are looking at the GREEN -- the money, not the weed. The statement about Gardner banking on the pro-pot bill came from the head of an organization which "spent $127 million to put and keep Republicans in office last cycle." That's Steven Law, an associate of Karl Rove who served as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s chief of staff from 1991 to 1997. Remember that former House GOP Speaker John Boehner is a paid lobbyist for the marijuana industry. But will McConnell move for a vote on the Gardner bill? He could be persuaded by the idea that Gardner's bill would pass and generate a bunch of pro-pot money for the GOP -- and help Gardner win re-election. But look at this: While most Democrats favor legalization, Democratic House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has declared, “I still have concerns on this [legalization] after speaking to people who deal with drug abuse and rehabilitation issues and particularly after learning of the drug’s harmful consequences as a threshold drug that leads to the use of harder, very harmful drugs." As a result of this statement, Hoyer is under attack by the pro-marijuana lobby. Incredibly, while promoting dope, Gardner had served in the Senate GOP leadership as head of the campaign arm, the National Republican Senatorial Committee. For America's Survival, Cliff Kincaid
