The State Department is Winning for America
02/28/2020 03:22 PM EST Michael R. Pompeo, Secretary of State American Conservative Union Foundation Gaylord National Resort and Conference Center National Harbor, Maryland SECRETARY POMPEO: Good afternoon, everyone. (Applause and cheers.) Thank you – thank you so much. This is awesome. This is awesome. I – so I survived an introduction by my wife. That’s good. (Laughter.) And I just left the Oval Office; I survived that, too. (Laughter.) And the President – I told the President where I was going. I said, “I got to go. I got to get over there. The people are all waiting for me.” And I said, “I’ve got to defend America’s foreign policy.” He says, “Oh, that’ll be easy.” (Laughter.) Look, I am thrilled to be here at the largest conservative gathering in the country – except every Trump rally. (Applause.) And you should all know I was going to pass out copies tonight, but I heard Nance the Ripper is still on the loose. So – (laughter). So no hard copies of my remarks. (Applause.) Let me start with a simple question – I think I know the answer: Can anyone in this room remember a better time to be an American conservative? (Applause and cheers.) We are safer than ever, our economy is more prosperous than ever, and President Trump will not stop winning. (Applause.) It’s what a lot of folks have been working on for a long time. And you’ve heard from Susan, not so many years ago, Susan and I were right there beside you. We were working our tails off as grassroots volunteers trying to get good candidates elected. Sue Schlapp, who introduced my wife, was running for city council in Wichita. We did our best to help her be successful. (Applause.) She was a great city councilperson. But we did what you all do. We donated to causes that we believed in. With most of our time, we raised our family, we taught fifth grade Sunday school together. That was great practice for my current job. (Laughter.) Look, we were active in our church – typical deplorable stuff. (Laughter.) As I was thinking about this group and what I would say today, I thought: When I was where you are, what would I like to have heard from a Secretary of State back then? What would I have liked to have known? How does the State Department spend your money, taxpayer money? What does the Secretary do all day to advance America’s interests and its values? How did that guy get the job? (Laughter.) I can’t answer the last question, but I’m going to tackle the first two with you all today. I want to talk about how under President Trump’s leadership, the State Department is winning for America once again. (Applause.) We have 74,000 people. We have embassies in 192 countries that go from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. On a daily basis, the State Department does everything from helping American companies be successful abroad and do deals. We screen visa applicants to keep America safe. We forge new alliances. And if you lose your passport, come see me. But apart from that daily work, apart from the core, President Trump and I have set a few overarching principles about what we need to do in the world, and the things that we do not need to do. Simple mission – this may sound trite – but we have to keep America safe. (Applause.) This may seem obvious. And we have – President Trump has constructed a foreign policy around government’s most basic mission, national security. That’s what we were protecting when we launched the strike that killed the terrorist who had murdered and maimed hundreds of Americans. (Applause.) It’s really been my honor to help President Trump rid the world not just of Qasem Soleimani, but of other truly demonic, evil people. (Applause.) Qasim al-Raymi was a founder and leader of al-Qaida. He’s gone. (Applause.) Hamza bin Ladin, the son of Usama bin Ladin, a rising figure in al-Qaida – gone. (Applause.) And of course, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the head of ISIS – gone. (Applause.) And can we all agree that the world is a better place because these people are gone? (Applause.) When it comes to these missions, it’s not just the State Department. I’m part of a big team. I’m in constant contact with our Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, who happens to be a college classmate of mine. Our intelligence head, my former deputy, Gina Haspel, is running the CIA. General Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a great American and my neighbor. In fact, the only key member of our team that I don’t know well is that German shepherd, and I’m going to get to know him. (Laughter.) It’s a remarkable team that the President has, that he has put together to help deliver President Trump’s foreign policy. A second priority that I have set and the President’s set is to advance American values. That includes defending that first freedom: religious liberty. (Applause.) Some people look at the killings of Christians in the Middle East – or the imprisonment of Uighur Muslims, ethnic Kazakhs, other believers in China – and say, “Look, that’s not our problem.” But I say, and President Trump says, oh yes it is. It’s our problem. Because the God that has blessed this country as the standard bearer for religious freedom is important everywhere. (Applause.) Nations that respect this right are freer, more prosperous, more secure, and more stable. And if we don’t defend religious freedom, no one else will. It’s why President Trump has made this incredibly central to what it is we are trying to achieve. (Applause.) I’ll give you another great example. It’s why, under President Trump’s leadership, we have aligned United States assistance, American aid with American values by reinstating the Mexico City Policy that prohibits one single dollar of yours for going to an abortion anywhere in the world. (Applause.) President Trump understands deeply that abortion isn’t a human right; it takes a human life. And there’s another common sense, core American value President Trump has injected into our foreign policy: taking care of our own. It’s why we have all worked so hard to liberate American hostages. (Applause.) One of my proudest moments, and I know the President’s too, it’s part of our idea that says our foreign policy will have realism, restraint, and respect. This mission stands out. One of my first big tasks as the Secretary of State was to get a handful of Americans home from North Korea. (Applause.) We flew to North Korea, we negotiated them out, we made the long flight home. When Kim Dong-chul, Kim Hak-song, and Tony Kim got off that airplane it was about 2:30 a.m. not far from here, Joint Air Base Andrews, they cried tears of joy. You’ll remember the pictures, President Trump and Melania were on the tarmac to meet them. As they were getting off the plane, one of them handed me a card. I put it in my suit pocket as they were making their way towards the crowd. When I got home that night, I saw Susan, I pulled out the card, and on that index card was Psalm 126. It read as follows. It said, “When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. And then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” Amen to that. (Applause.) Many of the hostages I’ve released we have not been able to make public. There is nothing I’m more proud of than the priority President Trump has made of bringing home every American, and we’ve had lots of success. (Applause.) So that’s the mission of the State Department. How do I spend my time advancing it? You should know that it’s different, different Secretaries kind of roll different. I’m not in it for the fancy dinners in Paris or Switzerland or Vienna. I’ve only been to those places twice during my time on the job. One of my predecessors went 62 times. (Laughter.) That, my friends, is a lot of cocktails. (Laughter.) He also went to Antarctica, and I don’t know who he was negotiating with there. (Laughter.) Look, I’d rather go be with my team in tough places, places that present hardship to the young men and women who are serving as diplomats all across the world. (Applause.) Even as we stand here today, even as we stand here today, we have people in China, people in Kabul, and Luanda, Angola, and Baghdad. These are often places secretaries don’t go as frequently – places like Hungary and Iceland, Belarus, and Paraguay. When I go to these places, I get a chance to thank my team that is delivering America’s value set all across the world alongside our brothers and sisters in the Department of Defense. It is an incredible privilege for me to be part of that. (Applause.) And when I meet with leaders, it’s – I’m pretty much just Mike. I live by a code that I learned why Susan talked about it, and I learned this at West Point: Just tell the truth. Shoot straight. They prefer it. It’s the way President Trump operates as well. I set clear expectations for what it means to be on America’s side. I ask our partners to step up on the biggest challenges we face, whether that is countering the Islamic Republic of Iran, countering China, restoring democracy in Venezuela. You could see President Trump’s mission set. You can see his heart in our foreign policy. We are countering the face of oppression around the world. This was a value that we all know from the enormous successes we had under President Reagan and when the Iron Curtain fell when I was a young cavalry officer. Another part of shooting straight is being honest with yourself. You have to tell – you have to be clear about what you can do and what you can’t. No foreign policy that is built on fantasy ever works. It’s what we have had to correct in our time. (Applause.) Under previous administrations, our nation signed dangerous agreements that made Americans less safe, like the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris Climate Accord, and bad trade deals. People said these things couldn’t be fixed. Previous administrations were proud of themselves for these agreements. They got to go to the ribbon cutting and the signing. But everyone knows this – the point is changing behavior, not signing documents. (Applause.) If there is no compliance, or if the agreements were flawed, you’ve got to get out of them. They’re just ink and paper. And so we did. President Trump’s a smart business leader. We changed course. We renegotiated terms. We got better deals for each and every one of you. (Applause.) Now, our success depends on who you ask. If you ask the media, maybe not so much. (Laughter.) If you ask our friends (inaudible) I was at a hearing today where they said President Trump’s foreign policy was a failure. But remember, these are the same people who said for years that we could never achieve exactly what we’ve done. (Applause.) They said – and I’ve read it. They said, well, you can never successfully confront China on trade. We have a phase one trade deal. (Applause.) They said you can never get Mexico to control its border. And there are thousands of Mexican troops helping us stop the crossings. (Applause.) They said you’d never defeat ISIS. And the caliphate is gone. (Applause.) And they said we’d never free Pastor Brunson from his prison in Turkey. And he’s home. (Applause.) They said Mexico and Canada will never renegotiate their deal. (Laughter.) They said the North Koreans would never engage in a conversation about their nuclear weapons program. They said they’d never release their hostages and that we couldn’t get the remains of our soldiers home. And we’ve done that. (Applause.) They said that pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal would lead to runaway proliferation. But it’s restored deterrence. And they said taking out Qasem Soleimani would lead to World War III. And it’s actually made our world far safer. (Applause.) We should – it’s easy to forget, but they said that moving our embassy to Jerusalem would set the Middle East alight. That didn’t happen. And our plan represents the best chance for peace in decades. (Applause and cheers.) I could go on, but time is short and winning is exhausting. (Laughter.) And while I know fatigue and stress is definitely part of my job, I know too – Susan reminded you I’m the 70th Secretary of State. I know President Trump is the 45th president, more turnover in my gig. (Laughter.) I wanted to leave you with one last thought. I am frequently challenged by those who disagree with our foreign policy. They ask questions such as, “Why is it okay for America to intervene between two countries with nuclear weapons?” Or, “Why does America care who’s elected the next leader in Venezuela?” And so on. I answer this way, typically. I’ve traveled a bit and I’ve spent significant and necessary time with evil individuals who have American blood on their hands. And I’ve also hugged and held children in every corner of the world. In both instances, they know the answer to those questions. They know America under President Trump means business. They know that America is a force for good. (Applause.) It does not mean – it does not mean we get it right every day. But I can assure you – I can assure you – that wherever I go, working for President Trump, people tug on my sleeves. They want to meet me. They want to meet me not because I’m Mike from Kansas, because I represent the greatest nation in the history of civilization. (Applause and cheers.) It is my honor – it is my honor to represent each and every one of you every day. Thank you for what you’re doing to keep this country exceptional. God bless you and God bless the United States of America. (Applause.)

January 31. Trump action on infected foreigners: Proclamation on Suspension of Entry as Immigrants and Nonimmigrants of Persons who Pose a Risk of Transmitting 2019 Novel Coronavirus.
Excerpt: During Fiscal Year 2019, an average of more than 14,000 people traveled to the United States from China each day, via both direct and indirect flights. The United States Government is unable to effectively evaluate and monitor all of the travelers continuing to arrive from China. The potential for widespread transmission of the virus by infected individuals seeking to enter the United States threatens the security of our transportation system and infrastructure and the national security. Given the importance of protecting persons within the United States from the threat of this harmful communicable disease, I have determined that it is in the interests of the United States to take action to restrict and suspend the entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of all aliens who were physically present within the People’s Republic of China, excluding the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States. I have also determined that the United States should take all necessary and appropriate measures to facilitate orderly medical screening and, where appropriate, quarantine of persons allowed to enter the United States who may have been exposed to this virus. Statement from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. Powell
For release at 2:30 p.m. EST February 28, 2020 The fundamentals of the U.S. economy remain strong. However, the coronavirus poses evolving risks to economic activity. The Federal Reserve is closely monitoring developments and their implications for the economic outlook. We will use our tools and act as appropriate to support the economy. By Cliff Kincaid – February 27, 2020 President Trump is in a difficult situation. If he were to disclose circumstantial evidence that the coronavirus virus is a Chinese bioweapon, there would be calls for retaliation against the Communist regime. Such a declaration could lead to more fear, the threat of war, and perhaps a global economic collapse. As it is, the virus is causing a market meltdown. He does not want to contribute to a panic and further collapse. Politically, his reelection hangs in the balance. Aside from Senator Tom Cotton, China experts such as Steven Mosher and Gordon Chang, and the newspaper The Epoch Times, few people in politics or the media are asking the hard questions about whether the virus is a weapon of war. But the evidence is available for those who take the time to review the facts. Also known as COVID-19, it is considered by many at this point to be just another mystery disease like the flu-like virus SARS, which also originated in China. But the number of deaths from the coronavirus has already surpassed the fatalities from the SARS outbreak. It appears to have a higher mortality rate than the flu. What’s more, a controversial but disputed scientific report indicates that the coronavirus has elements of HIV, the virus causing AIDS. This suggests it was engineered. The Wuhan Institute of Virology is located in the city where the virus is said to have originated. The institute claims to be committed to “effectively improving our [China’s] defense and resilience towards biological wars and terrorist attacks.” Hence, it has a military orientation. The official Chinese propaganda organ, Xinhuanet, ran a story headlined, “China slams conspiracy theories about COVID-19 virus.” At a so-called news briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said, “The WHO [U.N.’s World Health Organization] has said repeatedly there is no evidence that COVID-19 was engineered in a laboratory or created by the manufacture of biological weapons.” But nearly everyone agrees that China’s role in the outbreak has been characterized by lies and cover-ups. And the WHO’s role in “containing” the virus has been widely viewed as deferential to China. The U.N. bureaucracy moved too slowly. Yet the WHO admits, “Any infectious agents or toxic chemical could in theory be engineered for deliberate use as a weapon.” The official Chinese line at first was that the virus came from wildlife and it closed the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan city on January 1 for “environmental sanitation and disinfection.” Later, a Chinese outlet claimed the virus came from a “patient zero” character who emerged out of nowhere last November. To add more mystery, last October the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security hosted a fictional coronavirus pandemic exercise called Event 201 with the World Economic Forum and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. “Experts agree that it is only a matter of time before one of these epidemics becomes global -- a pandemic with potentially catastrophic consequences,” the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security said. Gates is a big funder of the U.N., its World Health Organization, and HIV/AIDS vaccine research. While some so-called “experts” are claiming the Trump Administration is unprepared, Trump is relying on these same experts to contain and solve the problem. The Wuhan Institute of Virology maintains partnerships with such governmental organizations as the National Institutes of Health in the United States and the WHO. What’s more, several of the Chinese lab directors were educated in the United States and specialize in emerging diseases and genetic engineering. Research fields include “HIV, influenza virus, hepatitis virus, tumor virus and zoonotic virus and virus replication and antiviral drugs etc.” This sounds impressive but the lab is an integral part of the Chinese Communist medical establishment and subservient to the state. In another strange development, American biopharmaceutical company Gilead had applied for a Chinese patent on the use of the antiviral drug Remdesivir against coronaviruses back in 2016. The Wuhan Institute of Virology had also applied for its own Chinese patent on a copy of the drug. It appears that China was considering the idea that profits could be made from a cornavirus outbreak and that it was trying to profit from the work already done by an American company. A compromise is reportedly being talked about so that pharmaceutical companies in both countries can make billions. Even if we assume the leak of the virus was accidental and not deliberate, the world is still at the mercy of China, where it originated, and thousands if not millions could die. This makes China complicit in what are called crimes against humanity. Commentators trying to play down the threat ignore the fact that scandals of this kind involving China have already occurred. One of the most notorious cases was contaminated Chinese-made heparin, a blood-thinning agent, which claimed at least 81 lives in the United States in 2007 and 2008. The 2014 report of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission found that Baxter International, Inc., the U.S. company selling the heparin product, “relied on a long and complex supply chain for the active ingredient that led back to China. Somewhere in that upstream supply chain, someone deliberately inserted over-sulfated chondroitin sulfate, a counterfeit and toxic ingredient, for crude heparin.” The commission declared that the absence of checks and balances in China’s system “makes it difficult to hold manufacturers and officials accountable” and that China “never accepted that the contaminated drug caused the deaths associated with Baxter’s products in the United States.” In regard to the coronavirus, the American liberal media line echo the official Chinese government claim that “experts” dismiss the idea that it was created by scientists and that any views to the contrary are conspiracies. Yet, in the case of SARS, it was later acknowledged that the virus had “escaped” from another Chinese lab. Our media do not want to hold China responsible for what emerged from their own territory. The Trump Administration has appointed an HIV/AIDS expert, Dr. Deborah L. Birx, as the Coronavirus Response Coordinator. “She has developed and patented vaccines, including leading one of the most influential HIV vaccine trials in history,” the White House noted. Dr. Birx was originally confirmed under President Obama as director of the U.S. Global HIV/AIDS Office. These credentials seem impressive. But HIV/AIDS vaccines have been in human trials since President Clinton in 1987 promised to make the creation and use of an AIDS vaccine "a national mission." Today, however, there is no vaccine available that will prevent HIV infection or treat those who have HIV or AIDS. Billions of dollars have been wasted on failed HIV/AIDS vaccine research. The Democrats in Congress are now rushing to pour billions of more taxpayer dollars into development of a potentially risky coronavirus vaccine, when it should be holding hearings on American involvement with the Chinese military-industrial-medical complex and whether sanctions should be imposed on the communist regime for threatening global health. With a coronavirus vaccine under development that could make billions of dollars for Chinese or American companies, the nature of the virus takes on immense importance. If it indeed has elements of HIV, the “solution” to what appears to be shaping up as a pandemic could be a mandatory and potentially dangerous vaccine. Scientific papers openly discuss the prospect of a “coronavirus-based HIV multigene vaccine.” All of this could do even more harm, as some vaccines rushed into production have backfired. A scientific paper by attorney Walter Kyle documented how contaminated polio vaccines may have led to cancers and AIDS in humans. Keep an eye on those “experts,” Mr. President. Cliff Kincaid is the president of America’s Survival, Inc. www.usasurvival.org The Wuhan Institute of Virology, a subsidiary of the state-owned research institute the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), is a possible source of the coronavirus. It identifies the following as USA partners:
Official CDC press release:
"On September 27, 2018, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) along with other public health and medical groups kicked off the 2018-2019 flu vaccine campaign at a press conferenceexternal icon held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. CDC early estimates indicate that more than 900,000 people were hospitalized and more than 80,000 people died from flu last season. These new estimates are record-breaking, and emphasize the seriousness and severity of flu illness and serve as a strong reminder of the importance of flu vaccination." But note: It's not known if the Coronavirus is a seasonal flu. Fight the Coronavirus by Defunding the United Nations
By Cliff Kincaid – February 25, 2020 A left-wing businessman who claimed in 2017 that President Trump isn’t pro-anything except “essentially white nationalism” was on business channel CNBC on Tuesday trying to assign partial blame for the spread of the coronavirus to President Trump. Such absurd charges increase panic, leading to a possible economic recession. This may be the Democrats’ only hope to defeat Trump and elect a socialist or a left-wing billionaire. What we know is that Trump is being blamed for a dangerous disease which came out of China that a pro-China United Nations bureaucracy failed to take seriously enough. The United Nations’ World Health Organization (WHO) was first alerted to the patients in China with the virus on December 31, 2019. But it took weeks before any action was taken, until the end of January 2020, a delay which led some public health experts to assert that the U.N. bureaucracy was far too “deferential” to China. That has clearly been the case. Without taking China off the hook entirely, the CNBC guest asserted, without evidence, that Trump had dismantled the global health disease infrastructure. Nobody discussed the pathetic response of the U.N. bureaucracy, the World Health Organization (WHO), and how China mishandled the outbreak and silenced whistleblowers. As the disease spreads to more victims, causing suffering and death, the U.N. bureaucracy continues to use political correctness as a response. “We must be guided by solidarity, not stigma," the director general of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, warned on Saturday. “The greatest enemy we face is not the virus itself; it’s the stigma that turns us against each other.” He wants to maintain “solidarity” with China rather than hold its communist rulers responsible for what is shaping up as a crime against humanity. At this point, the possibility that the virus may have originated in a lab in Wuhan, China, cannot be ruled out. Chinese government claims about the virus originating in a food market can’t be accepted at face value. A review of the official records reveals that the blame for any lackluster response lies with China and the World Health Organization. On January 22, an emergency committee of the WHO did not declare the coronavirus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). According to the official notes, “the members of the Emergency Committee expressed divergent views on whether this event constitutes a PHEIC or not.” The committee failed to confront China and said it “welcomed the efforts made by China to investigate and contain the current outbreak.” It soon became apparent that China was lying or engaged in a cover-up. Its Communist rulers were afraid of the economic cost and consequences to revealing the truth and didn’t want to look incompetent in the eyes of the world. They thought that last-minute tough measures, including rounding up disease carriers, would impress people. Not waiting for China to come clean, the White House had announced on January 29 the formation of the President’s Coronavirus Task Force, which is meeting on a daily basis. It wasn’t until January 30, after China released new information about the spread of the disease, that the WHO declared the virus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. But the group said the declaration “should be seen in the spirit of support and appreciation for China, its people, and the actions China has taken on the frontlines of this outbreak, with transparency, and, it is to be hoped, with success.” This statement went on, “In line with the need for global solidarity, the Committee felt that a global coordinated effort is needed to enhance preparedness in other regions of the world that may need additional support for that.” One day later, on January 31, 2020, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II declared coronavirus a public health emergency (PHE) for the United States. A press briefing was held on January 31. After its initial unsatisfactory response, a WHO emergency committee acknowledged that “it is still possible to interrupt virus spread, provided that countries put in place strong measures to detect disease early, isolate and treat cases, trace contacts, and promote social distancing measures commensurate with the risk.” So-called “social distancing measures” include restricting the entry into the United States of foreign nationals who pose a risk of transmitting the coronavirus. That’s what Trump did. In fact, the CDC notes that the U.S. government has taken “unprecedented steps with respect to travel in response to the growing public health threat…” But if the WHO had acted sooner, more people could have been spared, and a global pandemic might have been avoided. The number of cases has surpassed 80,000 in 37 countries. Those who hate Trump and love China want to ignore the possibility that the virus could be a man-made weapon or leaked from a laboratory. But the Trump Administration is prepared. Trump in 2018 signed the National Biodefense Strategy, drawing on lessons learned from biological incidents that include the 2001 anthrax attacks, the 2009 influenza pandemic, the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak, the 2014 West Africa Ebola epidemic, and the Zika virus outbreak. In truth, the post-9/11 anthrax attacks were blamed on an American scientist when the evidence suggests a plot by al Qaeda involving the theft of killer bacteria from a U.S. weapons lab. Russia-gate prosecutor Robert S. Mueller, then-FBI director, was part of a sophisticated cover-up. The Trump Administration document declares, “Multiple nations have pursued clandestine biological weapons programs and a number of terrorist groups have sought to acquire biological weapons. In many countries around the world, pathogens are stored in laboratories that lack appropriate biosecurity measures where they could be diverted by actors who wish to do harm.” Dr. Tedros, the former Minister of Health in Ethiopia now running the WHO, says, “We need a WHO that is efficiently managed, adequately resourced and results driven, with a strong focus on transparency, accountability and value for money.” We now have evidence that the money being spent on the WHO should be redirected into American agencies, including the Pentagon. The additional money requested by the Trump Administration for this crisis should be taken out of the U.N. budget. The WHO failed to respond quickly and properly to the epidemic. Perhaps, as a matter of social justice, the WHO headquarters ought to be relocated to the coronavirus epicenter of Wuhan City, China. Let’s see if that gets them moving more quickly to save their jobs. Unless the Trump Administration makes a clean break with the U.N. over this developing scandal, we can anticipate a proposal for a global tax to finance the “global health infrastructure” that the Trump critics claim he has decimated. It turns out that Dr. Tedros was a member of the “High-Level Task Force for Innovative Financing for Health Systems,” a group which recommended global taxes for the U.N. They call them “solidarity levies” on airline tickets, tobacco and currency transactions. They probably want some of the money “in solidarity” to go to China. Expect more hysteria that is designed to divert our attention from the source of the disease – Communist China. Trump’s critics don’t want lives saved; they want lives destroyed. *Cliff Kincaid is president of America’s Survival, Inc. www.usasurvival.org THE SOROS-FUNDED “BIG DEATH” LOBBY
By Ione Whitlock* January 18, 2010 *Ione Whitlock is chief research associate for LifeTree, Inc. (http://www.lifetree.org), a pro-life educational ministry headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina. In “progressive” politics, death frequently comes in packages labeled “Life.” And so it is with the Obama/Pelosi/Reid legislation. Think you are supporting pain relief and hospice in order to prevent assisted suicides? Think again. Thanks to Big Death-a collection of heavily funded non-profit hospice and palliative care groups-the line between palliative care (pain relief; symptom management) and imposed death has become blurred. Last summer, a core group from the “Big Death” lobby showed up to support Rep. Earl Blumenauer’s “end-of-life” or death counseling bill (known as section 1233 in the House version of health care reform). From hospice, there was American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), American Hospice Foundation, Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC), National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). The “consumer’s movement” turned out: AARP, Consumers Union, Medicare Rights Center. Catholic health care was represented as well: Providence Health and Services, and Supportive Care Coalition. These groups have been collaborating for over a decade, with coordinated funding from Soros, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Nathan Cummings Foundation, Commonwealth Fund and a number of other private funders, as well as with federal funding in the form of NIH and DHHS grants. One Big Death “thought leader” who has helped create the confusion between life-affirming palliative care and imposed death is Ira Byock, Dartmouth physician and hospice guru. In a blog at the New America Foundation this summer (Health Reform: We Can’t Fix Health Care By (Merely) Fixing Health Care, August 7, 2009) he illustrated our point. He suggests, using the example of one senior citizen, that we might improve seniors’ lives simply by giving them “reliable transportation … to the local Senior Center [where they would] share nutritious group lunches and noon-time discussions on advance directives for health care.” In other words, he wants to sell seniors a free trip to the Center for a fulfilling and healthy life…to persuade them to focus on death, of course. Byock drew early attention and support from Andrea Kydd-former organizer for the Welfare Rights Organization, and board member of the Tides Foundation. Kydd, who was health program director for the Nathan Cummings Foundation, directed the foundation’s support to two end-of-life projects in 1995: one collaborated with the Commonwealth Fund to conduct a caregiver study directed by Ezekiel Emanuel and his wife Linda; the other was Byock’s Missoula Demonstration Project. The grant from Cummings was followed by a grant from Soros-one of the earliest grants awarded in Soros’s Project on Death in America. From there Byock moved to projects sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He directed a massive $15 million end-of-life project “Promoting Excellence” that could have been called “Promoting Rationing.” It tested methods of “moving hospice upstream” in various “difficult” clinical settings and on specific populations: veterans hospitals, native American reservations, African-Americans in urban centers, and prisons, for example. The project, headquartered in Montana, focused on financial savings and various ways to convince people to accept “palliative care” earlier in the game. Blurring the distinction between life-affirming care and hastened death eases the path for bedside rationing, which of course lowers costs. How to convince “difficult” cases to forgo life-sustaining treatment? Offer them palliative care. When Promoting Excellence moved to South Carolina, the effort was focused on reminding a group of chronically ill patients who “generally do not see themselves as dying” that, in fact, they were dying. Diane Meier and Sean Morrison of Mt. Sinai in New York worked with NJ-based Franklin Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina for intervention by case management teams using advance care counseling and a variety of other tools. Meier’s group reported that the South Carolina population were “an ‘upstream’ population of very sick people, averaging 46 years of age, generally suffering from serious, progressive, and life threatening illnesses, who will likely consume high dollar amounts of resources” and were thus chosen for intervention. When Byock delivered a provocative keynote address to a conference of over 275 end-of-life health professionals, researchers, policymakers, and community activists, he described the “levers” that could be used to change the U.S. death-denying culture. Bureaucracy would be their ally. Byock noted that “German sociologist Max Weber said that social movements that become successful become routinized by the agency of bureaucracy. Therefore, ironically, bureaucracy is the means and the mark of our success to this point.” While Byock rallied the “levers” and “agents of change,” he also quietly created a new right-to-die consumer’s group that would organize caregiver and hospice groups, and pressure legislators to pass living will legislation. Byock brought AAHPM together with Choice in Dying (aka Euthanasia Society of America and Society for the Right to Die) to form “Partnership for Caring” (PfC) in 1999. PfC’s mission was to articulate “a national policy agenda,” and their first priority was “mandated universal access to high-quality care.” Just when we think we are supporting a partnership for caring, we end up with the choice to die. Now, twelve years later, the Obama administration is poised to firmly establish Big Death’s “agency of bureaucracy” by implementing the Obama/Pelosi/Reid plan. Former Mitt Romney adviser Richard Grenell is the new Acting director of Intelligence. He is the openly homosexual US Ambassador to Germany who is leading a campaign to “legalize homosexuality” around the world.
Rush Limbaugh says: He’s one of the most accomplished and one of the most achieved people. He is the… I’m just gonna tell you, he is perfect for this job...He is gay — and it doesn’t matter a hill of beans to me or anybody else who is supporting him in anything that he’s doing. Doesn't matter? Robert Gagnon, associate professor of New Testament at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and the author of The Bible and Homosexual Practice, is one of the leading authorities on the issue. He says that Christianity has always taught that marriage involves a man and a woman and that homosexuality is prohibited in the Bible because it is unnatural and sinful. NBC News reports: In an exclusive interview in Berlin, Grenell says he has no concerns that the campaign he announced this week [for homosexuality] could trigger resistance from elements of President Donald Trump’s base, such as evangelicals who have pushed back against policies like gay marriage in the United States. Trump knows all about Grenell. Grenell was one of the Republicans who signed a legal brief in support of homosexual marriage. |
