The Obama Administration decided to sink billions of dollars into global “climate change” schemes, such as the U.N.’s wasteful and ineffective Green Climate Fund. Ironically, an observer to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) has become the first reported case of coronavirus in Liberia, after attending the GCF fund’s board meeting in Switzerland. At that meeting, the GCF approved a $38.2 million grant to communist Cuba.
Fortunately, on June 1, 2017, President Trump announced termination of U.S. contributions to the Green Climate Fund “which is costing the United States a vast fortune.”
From Politico, 1/17/2017:
The [Obama] State Department announced Tuesday it is sending a second, $500 million payment to the Green Climate Fund.
The payment is the second from the U.S. to support the fund, which is intended to provide climate adaptation money to developing nations, and serves as the financial mechanism of the Paris climate agreement. The fund is supposed to reach $100 billion by 2020, with both public and private funding from around the world.
